William Justice Atuguba is a former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Ghana.
Prior to his appointment, he enrolled as a Magistrate on 3rd October 1974. Atuguba has worked as a private lawyer at some point in his career.
He also worked as a Special Prosecutor and State attorney before he was given the position of a Chief Justice in 1995. Atuguba was appointed by the then President Jerry John Rawlings of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

William Atuguba was acting as the Chief Justice from May 25, 2016 to June 3, 2016 while Justice Georgina Theodora Wood was outside the country on offìcial duties.
For a period of time, he was given a position as the most be senior judge in the Supreme Court of Justice.
Atuguba acted as Chief Justice from February 2017 prior to the retirement of Theodora Georgina Wood on 8 June 2017 until 19 June 2017.

After he left office, Sophia Akuffo was sworn in by the current President Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo-Addo.
According to Information gathered by ghanabrief.com, he was the longest serving Chief Justice in the history of the Ghanaian judiciary system. He served as a judge for 44 years.
Atuguba became a household name after the then NPP presidential candidate filed for an election to look into the 2012 presidential election.
